Manchester based Copernicus Consulting, a strategic planning consultancy with a rapidly expanding international presence, is to recruit associate consultants as Business Evangelists to create new international trade opportunities for US companies in the various markets where Copernicus are represented, and to indentify potential trading partnerships within the US for international clients.
"This was a natural progression for the business after our success in the UK, elsewhere in Europe and the opening of our office in China. We have already created a platform across the UK, Scandinavia, The Netherlands and Germany which has opened a network of opportunities for our clients. This first phase of expansion into Southern Europe has already created new possibilities that we have been able to generate for our clients in respect of international trade"explained Colin Fell, Group Managing Director. "Already we have had approaches from interested parties which may lead to our services being available in France, Portugal and Italy in 2nd quarter 2010, along with enquiries from government bodies in North Africa and UAE to explore how we can best assist them in developing or facilitating international growth in selective target markets. This in itself is a fantastic endorsement of the growing strength of the Copernicus brand and is fair recognition of the quality of the individual consultants carrying out the tasks and projects on behalf of our clients.

The unique Copernicus Interim Key Account Management Service offers clients an exceptional interim service to support the growth of their business in the demanding world of export marketing. International partnerships are easier to imagine than to implement. All too often, they achieve nothing, apart from draining money and management time. The Copernicus Interim KAM offers clients the opportunity to have a local presence, without the fixed costs associated with a subsidiary, satellite office or a full time employee until such time as the volume of sales are sufficient to warrant such an investment, while delivering an increased level of service that is not possible purely working from their home base and travelling on an irregular basis to make customer visits abroad. Alliances won't work unless the communication process has been thought through carefully and once an alliance has got off the ground, communication remains essential. Big alliance partners will expect and need information immediately. Many suppliers simply fail to deliver this. Also, in international partnerships expectations run high and unfulfilled expectations often lead to distrust, suspicion and over kill in negotiations.

A UK mother is entitled to a year off
Growing numbers of people are concerned about the impact of working mothers on family life, a survey by Cambridge University suggests. It compared results of social attitude polls from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s.
In 1998, 51% of women and 45.9% of men believed family life would not suffer if a woman went to work. This had fallen to 46% of women and 42% of men in 2002, amid "growing sympathy" for the old-fashioned view women should be in the home and not the workplace.

The Government is proposing to limit the amount of new legislation that Whitehall can introduce by handing each department a regulatory budget. If the plan goes ahead, Britain would become the first country in the world to try to restrict the flow of new regulations by requiring governments to take into account their economic as well as social impact. "I think it's going to be a big shock to Sir Humphrey, but a necessary one," said John Hutton, the Business Secretary, referring to the verbose civil servant in the classic BBC comedy Yes Minister.
